2006 Radford Eden Valley Botrytis Riesling
Winemaker's Comments
This is the first Botrytis Riesling release from Radford Wines. 2006 was pretty wet towards the end of vintage, so we decided to leave two rows of Riesling and chance that they may become infected with botrytis. We hand-harvested in the rain and then basket-pressed the grapes, yielding a tiny quantity of juice.
Fermented in an old French oak barrel and left to mature for three years in an apple store in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills. We finally re-visited this wine in 2009 and were delighted with the lovely floral nose with a hints of lemon zest & apricot. The great natural riesling acidity will leave the palate fresh and crisp and your palate desperate for another sip.
